Episode 1, Scene 3

SOHO KESLER HOTEL, NEW YORK CITY

“As you can see, no expense was spared in the design of this hotel,” said Henry Kessler, owner of the hotel as he showed Lorraine Biddinger and Troy Banner around the lobby. “I personally made sure that no corners were cut, as I wanted this hotel to be even better than a five star hotel.”

“It is very beautiful,” Lorraine said as she looked around the luxurious and ornately decorated lobby. “However, I have to wonder if the hotel will ever make a profit. Your books show that you have yet to fill the hotel in the five years it has been open.”

Kessler nodded his head as they walked toward the bank of elevators at the far end of the lobby. “This is true. Our highest occupancy was 76% during the Christmas season of our first year.”

“And the customer comments that your employees sent to me were quite enlightening,” Lorraine continued as they stepped into the elevator, which opened as they walked up. Lorraine was surprised to see a man standing in the elevator wearing the uniform of the hotel.

Episode 1, Scene 2

BRYON’S OFFICE, STONE RIVER PROPERTIES, DENVER, COLORADO

Bryon Lange sat in his new office, sitting back in his chair with his feet on the desk and looking out the window of his office. He was staring at the building that was blocking any view he might have from his office, but his mind wasn’t on the building.

He had only been in Denver for three days, and already he felt as if he wanted nothing more than to just walk out of the office, go to the airport and go home to Malibu. He didn’t want to be here, didn’t want to be in charge of a company he never even knew existed before his grandfather had died, didn’t want to deal with the hassles and issues that were popping up left and right.

Bryon sighed, leaned further back in chair and closed his eyes.

Episode 1, Scene 1

EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE ROOM, BIDDINGER OIL, DENVER, COLORADO

He stood at the floor to ceiling windows of the conference room, the view of the city below him and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. But he didn’t actually see what some might call one of the most magnificent views of Denver and Rocky Mountains to be had.

Instead, his eyes were focused on the glass of the window, on the reflection within the glass of the conference room behind him, and more specifically on the two people sitting at the conference table.

The person closest to him in the reflection was a man 10 years older, but of the same height and build as himself. The other was a woman, 5 years older, a little shorter than either of the men in the room.

Both of them were reading a bound report he had put together, a report it had taken him months of research to put together, a report that was going to be a shock to everyone. As he watched their reflections, he saw that the woman was slowly shaking her head and the man was angrily flipping back and forth through the pages.

Character Bio: Lorraine Adele Kincaide Biddinger Cesaro Frazer Biddinger

Lorraine was born in Eden Valley, California, and has three younger sisters: Lorretta, Lauren and Louise. At the age of 5, her parents were killed in a car accident, leaving the four sisters under the custody and supervision of their paternal grandfather, Gerald Kincaide.

Gerald was not a very loving person, and could be verbally and physically abusive of the four girls, but most of his anger and aggression was taken out on Lorraine, who he felt should keep the other girls in line.

When Lorraine was 18, Lorraine saw Gerald strike her youngest sister, Louise, with such force that Louise lost her footing and fell over the banister of the second floor of the home they all lived in. At the hospital, not knowing whether Louise would live through the night, Lorraine attacked Gerald. Security had her arrested.

While sitting in the jail cell, Gerald came to visit her and told her he would drop the charges against her, but only if she agreed to leave Eden Valley. Her response was that she would leave only if he gave her $1000 and signed an agreement that he would never again touch any of her sisters, otherwise she would stay and call make his life hell. He agreed to the conditions.

The next day, Lorraine said goodbye to her sisters, promising to call them every chance she got, and boarded a bus bound for Denver.

WeSeWriMo links added!

I have added links to the Web Series Writing Month home page, as well as all of the series’ that are participating in this years event (other than my own, of course!)

Please check them out and give them a good read!

And just to let everyone know, Episode 1 is written in full! I also have one of the biographies written!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 5 August 2009, I will post the first scene of episode 1 as well as the biography for one of the characters: Lorraine Adele Kincaide Biddinger Cesaro Frazer Biddinger!

Hope you are all as excited to read it as I am to post it! :)

The writing continues!

Just to give you an update, I have several scenes from the first episode written and ready for posting on Wednesday. So get ready for Wednesday afternoon to read scene 1 of the new series!

I will be posting 1 scene a day for sure, possibly 2 depending upon the time frame, until I get all of the scenes and bios for my goal posted. Since there are 38 total scenes and biographies planned and only 31 days in the month (only 26 of which I will be posting anything), that means there will definitely be more than one scene or bio posted on some days.

As a reminder, all scenes and bios are posted to the front page, but the links to them will be placed into their respective pages as well. This means if you go to the Character Bios page, you will be able to go to each bio that gets posted, go to the The Episodes page and you will be able to get to each scene in each episode.

And again, once each episode is complete, you will be able to download the whole thing as a single Adobe PDF file, which will be a little more stylized than the website allows.

Talk with you soon!

Let The Writing Begin!!

So, as I am writing this, I have just gotten off work and the Web Series Writing Month has officially started!

I will begin writing after I get up later in the morning, and my first post will be Wednesday, 5 August 2009. Expect it to be either later in the morning or the early afternoon, but it will definitely be posted before I leave for work that evening, which is 4:00 PM Eastern US time.

Check back then for the first scenes of the first episode! You find all scenes under the category of Episode Post, and each scene will also be added to The Episodes page as well.

Once each episode is finished, you will be able to download it as an Adobe PDF. The link for this file will always be in The Episodes page once it is ready.

I hope you enjoy it!

The Biddinger Chronicles is now on Twitter!

I have decided that one of the best ways to get the new posts for each episode “advertised” is to use Twitter.

I have personally tried to avoid anything to do with Twitter in the past, but realized that by adding some functionality to the website I could automatically post to Twitter when I post to this website, so it made complete sense for a Twitter account to be created.

If you would like to follow this site on Twitter, go to Twitter.com/BiddingerChron.

New site for my new web series!

This site has been created to place my writing series that is tentatively called The Biddinger Chronicles.

I have been trying to write it for several years now, but I recently signed up with Epiguide’s Web Series Writing Month in order to kick myself in the butt and get the thing started. So, starting August 5, 2009, I will be posting the series as I write it.

I made myself a goal of getting 3 full episodes written, as well as the biographies for the main characters posted to this new subdirectory of my main website.

Hopefully I can persuade myself to actually get that done! LOL

Anyway, come back often during the month of August in order to discover my new web series!
